IPad, 2 have already been through dozens of reviews since its inception, but none of them is as scientific as this. The guys over at DisplayMate has compared the tablet in 1024 x 768 pixels screen of the iPhone 4 retina display and iPhone 3GS modest HVGA screen.
Here are some of the more interesting findings of the review-iPad, 2 display has a maximum brightness brightness 410 cd/m ^ 2, which is pretty good, but not quite as impressive as 541 cd/m ^ 2 iPhone 4, and also one of 428 cd/m ^ 2 in 3GS.
But the black iPad, 2 is the deepest of the trio of 0.45 cd/m ^ 2 (iPhone 4 got 0,48 cd/m ^ 2 and the 3GS 3.1 cd/m ^ 2), which gave it a contrast ratio of 962: 1. It is almost seven times better than 3GS but not quite as good as the iPhone 4. Still both iPhone and iPad, 2 4 drew excellent speech, their LCD light.
The color temperature of the iPad, 2 also said to be lower than 4 so that colors appear slightly warmer in Slate, compared to the smartphone of iPhone.

Which angles are concerned, all three tested units lost more than 50 percent of their brightness in 30-degree viewing angle, but still had pretty good contrast when the iPad, and iPhone 2 4 (564 and 556 respectively).
Finally, the measured power consumption of different reviewers screens. IPhone 4 was found to have at least power at maximum brightness (0.42 Watts), while the iPad, 2 was sucking 2,7 watts. If you level the field by setting up both to the same brightness, and split the consumption in the iPad, 2 through the crowd that its screen is bigger then iPhone 4, give you a fairly similar energy efficiency but (0.32 watt for phone vs 0.34 Watts for tablet).
And it's a pretty good indicator of how Apple made when comparing iPhone 4 to 3GS. HVGA screen of the previous generation smartphones require almost twice the power of its successor.
