Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Nokia executive and Board Member Niklas Savander said in an interview which according to Microsoft Nokia Finns are free to customize the mobile OS that they deem appropriate.

No other maker was allowed so far to interfere with the look and feel of Windows phone 7.

But under the new agreement with Nokia, Microsoft has unloaded the grip a bit.

According to Nokia Savander not those customizations that push OS updates (apparently referring to the annoying Android customizations). So in practice, Nokia adaptations to WP7 is one of the following:

Surface changes that are quick and easy to hold in each new update Microsoft Deep-running customizations that will be integrated into the OS by Microsoft and made available for both Nokia and some other competing manufacturers

Nokia has clearly negotiated hard in the exclusive affair. We hope something good comes out of it.
