Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Good news for all Blackberry lovers! A new photo of Blackberry Dakota leaked today and it looks exactly like its prototype, which we covered Magnum almost a year ago. Only thing different is the trackpad that was added to the device, and shot in some of the specifications.

This BlackBerry, codenamed Dakota, will pack a 2.8-inch Capacitive touch display with a VGA resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and a full physical QWERTY keyboard. It rocks a 5 MP camera with flash can record HD video. Also included are 4 GB of internal storage and 768 MB RAM. What processor will drive it remains unknown, however.

A major addition is 3 G Mobile HotSpot that has been added, to allow the Dakota to spread some Internet love for the other devices around. Not to mention NFC connection. N Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and MicroUSB port come as any surprise.

In addition, Dakota will be delivered with the new Blackberry 6.1, announced yesterday on the BlackBerry DevCon Asia. The new version of the BlackBerry platform now supports the Magnetometer and Digital Compass APIs, OpenGL ES 2.0, an event-base geo-fencing location APIs and much more.

Rates and availability for BlackBerry Dakota remains obscure. Who knows, maybe RIM will shed some light to the Dakota at the World Mobile Congress.
